Spaces of Culture

Spaces of Culture Mobility Program has been resumed as an international travel program in 2022, expanding its activities to Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and France. After the pandemic halted travel worldwide for the last two years, actors in arts and culture experienced the lack of exchange opportunities keenly. A key focus of Spaces of Culture is to enable mobility opportunities for fostering dialogue between Europe and Turkey, as well as connecting institutions and individuals in the field.  The first program is organized in Germany with the collaboration of the Goethe Institut Visitor Program, inviting 15 participants from Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, İzmir, and their neighbouring cities between 23-26 June.

Consisting of lectures, talks, and institution and art studio visits, the program offers participants an insight into the lively art scene of Berlin and Leipzig during the six-day program. While paying visits to (among others) Galerie am Körnerpark in Neukölln as part of the 48-Hours Neukölln Festival, Berlin Biennale, Neue Nachbarschaft/Moabit e.V, and Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei, participants exchanged ideas and learnt more about project funding opportunities from Sophia Trollmann from Die Gesellschaft der Neuen Auftraggeber. The artist and curator Ms. Anna Karpenko delivered her views on the exhibition “The Shadows Are Long” at Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig where visitors also talked about the educational programs of the site.
