The final event of ‘Spaces of Culture’s Cultural Management Program, focusing on networking, took place in collaboration with A Corner in the World during 14-15 October. After organizing three training programs with a regional focus in Izmir, Diyarbakir, and Gaziantep earlier this year, the event in Istanbul provided networking opportunities to its participants with speed-dating sessions, as well as organized site visits to cultural venues and institutions, including the 17th Istanbul Biennial.
The first day of the program took place at the Consulate of the Netherlands in Istanbul, inviting 45 participants who attended the former workshops in project cities. Along with the inspirational talks given by the organization team and Yalçın Pembecioğlu from Bigumigu, participants connected with 16 institutions and cultural professionals from Istanbul at a speed-dating event in order to introduce their practices and exchange ideas. The Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul, The Consulate General of the U.S., CultureCIVIC, Istanbul Municipality Arts and Cultural Section, Heimatlos Films, Fringe Festival, 3dots, Anadolu Kültür, Tütün Deposu, Fransız Kültür Merkezi, British Council Turkey, Esmiyor, Postane, Heinrich Böll Stiftung Turkey, Beatz by Girls, Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, and Stiftung Mercator were present at the networking sessions, as well as at the networking reception at IKSV Firuze restaurant designed to create more room for participants to resume conversations with the cultural actors from Istanbul.
The second day of the program consisted of a couple of visits to cultural venues, including the 17th Istanbul Biennial sites, namely Pera Museum, Muze Gazhane, and Arthere Istanbul, while Saha Association, NOKS Art Space, TAK, Moda Sahnesi, and Kadıkoy BoaSahne introduced their activities with presentations followed by Q&A sessions.
