Urbane Künste Ruhr’s residency programs are open for applications
In 2024, Urbane Künste Ruhr is offering six research residencies for artists to explore the Ruhr area’s unique cultural and historical context through a three-month project development, culminating in a public exhibition in 2025.
In collaboration with Stiftung Geschichte des Ruhrgebiets and Stiftung Industriedenkmalpflege und Geschichtskultur, Urbane Künste Ruhr targets artists interested in the region’s polycentric themes with three distinct focal points: post-industrial landscapes, archival research, and performance art. Each selected artist, chosen by an expert jury from the applications, will receive a €5,000 fee, workspace, accommodation, and networking and curatorial support, encouraging a deep dive into the Ruhr’s contemporary and historical landscape.
