The third edition of the International Mobility Program took place in Berlin between 16-22 October, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut’s Visitor Program. Participants from different disciplines explored Berlin’s dynamic art scene by interacting with local institutions such as Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst (NGBK), Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U), Stations, Performing Arts Programm Berlin, Maxim Gorki Theater and Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW).

This journey started with a session on the structure and working areas of nGbK and continued with a talk at ZK/U, which drew attention to the different use of space and resources in art production. A neighbourhood tour of various initiatives and project spaces led by cultural and project manager Nihan Sivridağ, a theatre play at the Maxim Gorki Theater, the Performing Arts Program, Berlin’s projects for independent dance and theatre workers, and current discussions on international art at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) provided a comprehensive panorama of Berlin’s cultural ecosystem. Individual visits to institutions such as Berliner Phonogramm-Archiv, Heimathafen Neukölln and GRIPS Theatre have created a fruitful enviroment for exchanging ideas. Participants also visited the Pergamon Museum for a rare glimpse into antiquity, before its doors were closed for 17 years for extensive renovations.

The program included a meticulously curated array of activities such as exhibition openings, film screenings, theater performances, and partner forums, aiming to establish lasting connections between artists, curators, and institutions from Turkey and Germany. This symbiotic interaction was envisioned to draw inspiration from Berlin’s rich cultural heritage and contribute to a broader global cultural dialogue, thereby enriching the participants’ own artistic practices.
