The cultural years of 2017/18 culminate in the form of a creative conference, themed as ‘Re-thinking Spaces’, organized in cooperation with ‘A Corner in the World’, an art collective which is based in bomontiada Alt. Spreading all around bomontiada, the multi-disciplinary cultural complex of Istanbul, the conference not only showcases a selection of events accomplished hitherto through the support of Spaces of Culture; but also offers thought-provoking panels, discussions, interactive workshops, film screenings, exhibitions and performances through 17 and 18 of December.
The conference presents a playful, engaging and constructive approach to the final program of Spaces of Culture this year and hosts a wide range of art organizations, civil initiatives, artists, researchers and academicians. It aims to foster a deeper understanding and interaction between various creators and communities, to unveil the substantial role of culture and arts organizations in strengthening civil society, to discuss contemporary issues that bear upon artistic and civic sphere and to develop a network between different organizations in the field of art and culture within and beyond Turkey.
Spaces of Culture’s project partners Narphotos Collective and Lis Publishing from Diyarbakır, Kırkayak Culture Center and the artist Yammen Jazbeh from Gaziantep, and from Izmir, Acik Studio and Gadje in the Neighborhood’s director Nesli Özalp are among the participants of the program, which engages participants and public in an innovative setting to share experiences, ideas, challenges, questions and hopes.
