The third and the last edition of the ‘Spaces of Culture’s Cultural Training Program for Post-Disaster Recovery was organized in collaboration with A Corner in the World at Gaziantep Kırkayak Kültür from June 16-18. The three-day program aimed to provide psychosocial support to children and young individuals through artistic means, foster an understanding of cultural heritage and collective memory, and facilitate the restoration of cultural institutions, spaces, and stakeholders in the aftermath of migration.
The program invited participants who were actively involved in cultural initiatives, including humanitarian assistance, and who had intentions to undertake projects within earthquake-affected areas. By facilitating discussions and knowledge sharing regarding post-disaster circumstances, professionals from Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Sweden conducted workshops on key topics and shared best practice examples related to culture in disaster zones. In addition to European speakers, civil society organizations from Turkey delivered lectures and workshops.
The workshops and talks delivered by Sevin Seda Güney from Momentum Creative Consultancy on Self Healing for Cultural Actors Working in Disaster; Filiz Telek from Kadınlar Şifadır on The Art of Council for Communication; Dilek Üstünalan from BoMoVu on Best Practices in Vulnerable Areas; Noemie Vandecasteele from Clown Sans Frontière in France on Clownesque Approaches for Communication Towards Children & Youth; Gül Pulhan from British Institute Ankara on Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Disaster Zones; Matthias Einhoff from ZKU Berlin and Alim Koray Cengiz at Hatay Social and Cultural Development Association (HSKKD) on Regeneration of Cultural Institutions, Spaces, and Actors After Crisis; and Arjen Kok from Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands on Art in Crisis Zones.
