Spaces of Culture

The training program organized by Galeri A Contemporary Art Center, consists of three different workshops that focus on Understanding Contemporary Art, Writing on Contemporary Art and Art Criticism. The workshop participants, determined through an open call, have the opportunity to learn from the knowledge and experience of experts in the field of contemporary art: Fırat Arapoğlu, Gökçe Dervişoğlu Okandan, Ayşegül Tabak, Evrim Altuğ, Nazlan Ertan, Ragıp Ertuğrul, Kültigin Kağan Akbulut and Rana Öztürk.

The workshop series is formed with the thought that the dynamism seen in contemporary art production in Izmir in recent years, should be reflected on the fields of contemporary art writing and art criticism. The project points out the significance of these fields in contributing to the persistency of contemporary art activities and works by documenting them and in building a bridge between the contemporary artist & work and the audience. It aims to create a platform that allows benefiting from the knowledge and experience of competent people, in order to show how one should be equipped in this field.

Two different booklets prepared with the writings of participants created during the workshop processes, are published on the website of Galeri A.
