This year, “Darağaç” turns the Umurbey neighbourhood into an area where artistic creation becomes diversified with three different events, namely, “Darağaç Bostan [Vegetable Garden]”, ‘’Darağaç Volta_Kombo’’ and “Darağaç Contact”. “Darağaç Bostan” is turning fallow land in the neighbourhood into an urban garden. Scrap wood, metal, and other discarded materials are upcycled for the vegetable beds and multifunctional modules: They sometimes turn into a workbench in the studios, into a table at meetings, into an arbor during sowing and harvesting times, and into a stage at performances. ‘Darağaç_BOSTAN’ is implemented with the coordination of the Darağaç Collective, and with the contribution of Maquis Projects, Çiçek Tezer / NomadMind – Design and Art Implementation Association, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Department for Culture and Arts, and the neighbourhood residents.
‘’Darağaç Volta_Kombo’’ brings together artists from different cities to create murals in Umurbey: Cem Sonel x DEVAK from Ankara; Ali Kanal x Suatilyus, Ecem Yılman x Hill.Hell, Hemon x Snme, Kalender x Meşrep, PAPYX x Hazal Arol, Dheno 35.5 x Jaku from Izmir; Fatih Altan x KAPTAN in the combo of Izmir and Ankara. ‘Volta_KOMBO’ is realized with the coordination of the Darağaç Collective and the productional and special contributions of Marcin Bourges, Aleksandir, Apeiron Collective and Mega Stationary.
