“From Writing to Screen” focuses on the relationship between literature and cinema. Short stories from Kurdish literature are turned into scripts in workshops. 10 participants selected as a result of an open call come together with instructors in literature-cinema adaptation workshops, and they visualize Kurdish short stories in order to enrich the Kurdish cinema archive. In this way, new productions are added to the rarely seen literature adaptations in Kurdish cinema.

In the first stage of the project, the participants produce scripts out of selected short stories together with experienced instructors in the field of adaptation. The produced scripts are set up as a film project ready to be shot and arranged in a way that they fit the criteria of “creating a film file” given in cinema trainings.

The workshops are given by Kurdish literature writer Şexo Filik, dramaturgist Recep İçen, scriptwriter Mizgin Müjde Arslan and Yılmaz Özdil, and director Miheme Shaikow. The Batman Culture and Arts Association and Batman Yeni Sahne and Alfa Yapım support the project in various stages.
