Notebook of Recollection is a research-based artistic production project that explores how women internalize warnings and control mechanisms imposed on their bodies by family and social circles from childhood onward. The project focuses on themes of the male gaze, identity construction, and alienation. Its creative process is rooted in a feminist memory study that questions the social, cultural, and political meanings attributed to the body.
Organized with the support of Spaces of Culture, Sarı Denizaltı Art Initiative is carrying out the project in collaboration with Shelter Artist Run Space, Pasaj, and Jenny Berntsson from Sweden. The project features works by Günseli Baki, Jenny Berntsson, Selin Atik, Sezgi Abalı, Seçil Yaylalı, and Şerife Aslan in the form of video, photography, drawing, collage, and installation. The public program includes an exhibition and book launch in İzmir, along with various workshops in October.
