‘Syrian Oud House’ creates an opportunity for oud enthusiasts to learn and practise both the art of oud making and playing. Participants closely examine how the Syrian oud is made and played by attending workshops and oud-based musical events. Syrian musician and oud maker Muhammed Ayman Jesry revives the concept of the traditional Syrian oud by showing its beauty and tonal features, shedding light on its uniqueness. The workshops, led by Jesry in both Turkish and Arabic, primarily focus on the Syrian oud’s finest manufacturing details and professional secrets as well as its core playing skills and techniques. Throughout the five months, participants gain the basics of oud instrument making and playing, enriching the Syrian oud culture in Gaziantep.
