‘9th Zeugma Film Festival’ is held online by ‘Kırkayak Kültür’ in Gaziantep between 24th and 29th November. The festival program consists of a selection of 15 films, panel discussions, and film interviews. Two thematic collections are hosted within the scope of the festival: ‘Living Together’ and ‘World Cinema’. The films covered in the section ‘Living Together’ are in Turkish with Arabic subtitles and vice versa while the festival section ‘World Cinema’ is comprised of films of renowned directors awarded in worldwide festivals.
This year, the festival draws attention to the increasing physical distance due to epidemic conditions and the search for a sense of togetherness in isolated life with the theme ‘Separate, Together’. The festival enables a dialogue between people from different locations, including people with an immigrant background, to strengthen the idea of living together not only spatially but also socially. ‘9th Zeugma Film Festival’ creates a common platform for different segments of society by transforming the necessity of moving to the digital realm due to adverse conditions into an advantage.
