The ancient relationship between humans and nature can be examined from many angles. Open Studio’s ‘Permanent Contemporary: Nature’ highlights both the pleasure and discontentment stemming from engagements with natural environments. At K2 Urla Breathing Zone, a diverse group of ten Turkish and European artists, writers, musicians, poets and dancers give four unique performances and three different workshops, all of which have been created in line with the idea of sustainable living. While some of the events are designed on-site specifically for the Zone, others are thoughtfully reinterpreted for Open Studio’s new campus. In addition to the indoor and outdoor designs and performances by Serenay Oğuz, Umut Sevgül, Metehan Kayan and Sarp Keskiner; audiences also meet Aslı Bostancı, Fatih Gençkal, Gaby Koch, Felix Bürkle, Bahar Nihal Ersözlü, and Süha Ertekin as part of the project. With its many events and programs for both adults and children, ‘Permanent Contemporary: Nature’ invites the audience to question and explore their relationship with nature and reminds them that the ancient and complex human-nature relationship continues to be a timely topic.
