The International 2 Sides Short Film Festival (2SSFF) focuses on the experiences of all identities and is inclusive of their ways of living regardless of their races, ethnicities, beliefs and gender. It presents unique short film productions from different cultures in the categories of documentary, fiction, animation and experimental. Including authentic productions focusing on the topics of difference and diversity, directorial debuts, LGBTQI+ productions, and new generation experimental works in its selections, the festival develops new ways of collective viewing and organizes alternative film screenings and events.
2SSFF, which consists of three main sections: “Screen”, “Lab” and “Plus”, presents a hybrid program in its third year. The physical program of the festival consists of film screenings, discussions, film reading sessions and the practical workshop in visual anthropology, and it is organized at social meeting venues in order to diversify the venue experience in film festivals. In 2021, 2SSFF’s rich online program contains film screenings, director talks, a Remix Attack event, and the “Cinema Is Possible For Everyone” Workshop. The festival also provides audio descriptions for the films with the aim of becoming more accessible to all audiences.
Coordinated by the Digital Film Atelier, 2SSFF collaborates with a film/art initiative from a different city of the world every year to create opportunities for collective thinking, research and creation in the field of short film. The festival partnered with Balkan Can Kino from Athens, bi’bak from Berlin and Galerie de Jaloezie from Rotterdam in its first three editions.
