‘Merkezkaç Encounters’ offers contemporary artists from a range of disciplines and age groups a series of workshops emphasizing artistic quality, production strategies, and the benefits of cross-generational collaboration. With a focus on interdisciplinary research, the photographers, videographers, performance artists, and installation artists collectively consider the creative process from concept to exhibition. Curator Derya Yücel leads the ‘Ways of Exhibiting’ workshop and thus the project culminates in exhibitions in Diyarbakır, Mardin, and Istanbul. With the initiative of Merkezkaç Art Collective that discusses the possibilities to exist outside the ‘central’ points of the art world, the exhibition starts in Diyarbakır Suriçi, then is moved to Mardin. The last phase of the exhibition takes place in Istanbul with an interview in November. By strengthening solidarity between generations through the transfer of experience, the project brings a fresh dynamic to contemporary art. In addition to bringing the collective works of art to life, the project invites audiences in the three cities to experience the artists’ creative artworks.
