“Underwater Memory” aims at documenting the fading memory of Halfeti which has been submerged by the Birecik Dam through underwater photography. Within the scope of the project, a photography exhibition is organized with reference to the 6000 people who have been displaced, and a book and a documentary film are produced. The exhibition showcases the underwater photos taken of the submerged village and landscapes and highlight underwater photography as an artistic discipline, as well as archiving the cultural memory of the city. Photographs of different underwater landscapes of Halfeti by Saygun Dura, Mehmet Öztabak, Ali Ethem Keskin, Tunç Emre Karakoyunlu, Bedri Sincar and Yavuz Pilevneli are shown in the Halfeti District Governorship’s exhibition venue. A selection of the exhibited photographs and accompanying texts by Nihat Özdal, are published as a book by the Kırmızı Kedi Publishing House, and diving videos created by Saygun Dura, Mehmet Öztabak, Ali Ethem Keskin, Tunç Emre Karakoyunlu, Bedri Sincar and Yavuz Pilevneli are made into a documentary to be shown on Habitat TV.
